From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, making it a comfortable spot whether you’re planning a casual dinner or simply looking for a reliable place to enjoy seafood dishes with family or friends.

One of the first things that caught my attention while browsing the menu at Pier Place was the focus on well-prepared seafood. The Clam Chowder is easily one of the highlights. It’s rich and satisfying without feeling overly heavy, and it sets the tone for the rest of the meal. Another standout is the Oysters Rockefeller, which delivers a flavorful combination that seafood lovers tend to appreciate. Each bite feels carefully prepared, which adds to the overall dining experience.

If you prefer something a little lighter but still full of character, the Rockfish Ceviche is worth trying. The dish has a refreshing taste that balances nicely with the rest of the menu offerings. On the other hand, the Fritto Misto offers a crisp and savory option for those who enjoy a variety of fried seafood in one plate. Pairing these dishes with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc works surprisingly well, adding a clean and refreshing finish to the meal.

Beyond the food itself, the service experience at Pier Place contributes a lot to why the restaurant receives positive reviews from visitors. The service is known for being fast, which makes the place convenient even when you’re short on time. For those who prefer to enjoy their meal elsewhere, takeout is also available, making it easy to grab your favorite items from the menu and go.

Pier Place also feels welcoming for different types of diners. The space is family-friendly, so groups with kids or larger parties can dine comfortably. Accessibility is also considered, including a wheelchair accessible restroom, which helps ensure that more guests can enjoy the restaurant without worry.

When people talk about good restaurant locations with dependable food and welcoming service, Pier Place often comes up in conversation. Between the seafood-focused menu, the relaxed dining experience, and the practical services offered, it’s easy to see why diners return and leave positive impressions in their reviews. The combination of comforting classics like Clam Chowder and fresh options like Rockfish Ceviche makes the overall experience feel both satisfying and memorable.

“ I am not sure if I had the normal dining experience here, but I would come back with slightly different expectations. When we walked up the deck with the outdoor seating, a lot of younger people in their 20’s was pretty much taking up the space, not so much physically but they were loud and probably did so to get the space to themselves. It was very much the “ you can’t sit with us” vibe. Came inside and you could only order at the counter, rushed through that and found a seat with the dinner crowd. I had ordered a clam chowder and it came out within 2 minutes of sitting. Chowder was 6/10 for me, not a lot of flavors and a little on the runny side. The actual meals were fantastic, my partner and I both were happy with the taste of the food. I had the Rockfish dish, and everything was seasoned exceptionally. My partner had the fish Tacos- same fish I believe. I am unsure if they did free soda refills, but it would have been nice if someone checked on us during the meal. I’m not sure if they have a regular table service, but I would come again knowing a little more casual then first anticipated. ”

“ We really loved that place. Very hidden but what a nice gem. Nice vibes for a casual lunch or dinner. Other places seem serving lesser and lesser fish. This had a good portion and yummy. Very dog friendly staff and outdoor seating. Awesome views on the rural harbour. We will come back, for everyone on the road this is absolutely worth the 2 min detour from PCH. ”

“ We came here based on the recommendation from the inn we were staying at and am so glad we went here! Holy cow! The view is truly stunning! We happened to make it 45 min before the sunset and it was by far the best view and sunset we’d ever seen at a restaurant (and we live in San Diego)! The food was great too. We had the raw oysters, sliders, and beef sando. All was delicious and very fresh. Even the lemons for our waters were fresh and not brown from being cut days ago. All the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. ”

“ Onion rings and clam chowder recommended by the lovely folks at the KOA. Well worth heading over for both, the fish & chips, and the rockfish poboys. Everything super yummy, great staff, and beautiful views. I can only walk away feeling so grateful—awesome. ”

“ We’ve seen many iterations of restaurants in this location over the last 20+ years, and this is by far the best one! You order at the bar, and service is fast and excellent. Food accommodates a variety of diets. The fish or prawn tacos have delicious homemade corn tortillas. We went on a Friday night when there was fun live jazz - plenty of seating, and we could hear each other while also enjoying the music. ”

“ We stopped here for lunch while we were out riding the Pacific coast hwy. It is tucked back in off of the road a little bit, but it was so worth the stop! There is a pizza place, coffee place and some other things downstairs. There is a pier right there and a small beach area that is very nice as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, it was very clean and nice inside. The service was great and the food was fantastic! I had the prawn tacos and a drink, and friends had the New England clam chowder and the fish tacos. Everyone liked their food and was very happy with it. Highly recommend! ”

“ Pier Place is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by Frankie, the owner, who is not only incredibly accommodating but also so personable. She took the time to recommend local spots and made us feel truly special and connected to the area. Amanda was just as incredible—so friendly and welcoming. We also want to wish Amanda's daughter, Savannah, all the best as she heads to Santa Cruz for her studies! The menu is awesome, the oysters were perfectly shucked and absolutely divine. We also ordered ceviche which was super fresh and fish & chips and as a Brit… fully approve. Everything came out quickly and tasted SO good. Even though they use sake-based liquors, their cocktails were top-notch. We ended up staying longer than we planned because we just enjoyed chatting and learning about the area from the wonderful staff. We will 100% be back, and it's all thanks to Frankie and Amanda. Oh, and a little secret: ask Frankie about her pet-friendly Airbnbs in the area- we can't wait to bring our doggie next time ”

“ We stopped for the ceviche. Especially since it was made with rockfish. And served with housemade pita chips. It was refreshing and delicious! Our table was next to the windows- and the Views outside window were an added nice touch. We would return! ”
